2007 Maven Pinot Noir

The fruit for our 2007 Marlborough Pinot Noir is sourced from a variety of premium sites and clones. A strong focus on attention to detail in the vineyard led to excellent fruit exposure and each block was entirely hand-picked.

The bunches were hand picked (very important advantage to making great Pinots), de-stemmed but not crushed, then transferred to traditional open-top vats. Prior to the onset of ferment each batch was given an extended cold soak, in which the juice and berries were held at low temperatures for up to ten days, to gently extract colour and flavour. During the subsequent wild fermentation, the vats were hand-plunged four times daily to ensure natural balance and structure - after which the wine was drained and then pressed to new and seasoned French barriques for maturation.

Deep ruby in colour, this premium exhibits rich spicy and savoury aromas with subtle toasty notes from French barrique maturation balanced with dark cherry fruit and soft ripe tannins.
